Dr. Candace DeCock O.D., M.S., F.A.A.O.
Dr. DeCock joined the Optometric Centre in August 2009. Dr DeCock graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2005. In 2009, she completed her Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science degrees at The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, the Award of Excellence in Vision Training was presented to Dr. DeCock by The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. DeCock obtained her fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 2013. She is also member of the OEP (Optometric Extension Program), an organization involved in vision therapy education and advancement, and maintains membership with the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. DeCock practices full scope optometry for disease management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, myopia management, dry eye, urgent eyecare, ocular injuries and more. She provides assessments and prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. She is also proud to provide vision therapy programs.
Dr. DeCock became a partner and co-owner of Killarney Optometric Centre with Dr. McGill in April 2014. Dr. DeCock and her husband, Andrew, have three children, two sons and a daughter. She enjoys spending her time reading, playing piano and singing, and taking in lake activities.
Dr. Dustin McGill O.D.
Dr. Dustin McGill grew up on a small farm near Killarney. He attended high school in Killarney and earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Brandon University. Dustin then continued his studies at Indiana University School of Optometry and graduated in May of 2012. He maintains memberships in the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. McGill practices full scope optometry for disease management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, myopia management, dry eye, urgent eyecare, ocular injuries and more. He also provides routine assessments and prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, including hard and scleral contact lenses.
In August, 2012, Dr. McGill began working at the Optometric Centre in Killarney with his mentor Dr. Keith Letts and Dr. Candace DeCock. In April of 2014, Dr.McGill and Dr. DeCock purchased the Killarney Optometric Centre from Dr. Letts.
Dr. McGill is settled back in his home town with his wife, Megan, and his daughter. He enjoys spending time his time golfing, pontooning, and singing with a local quartet.
- Lab Supervisor
Liana began her career with the Optometric Centre in 1982 and since then has obtained her Assistant Certification (1985) and Technician Certification (1991). She currently holds the position of Lab Supervisor at Killarney Optometric Centre.
Liana and her husband live near Dunrea, Mb where they own and operate a mixed farm business. They have two children. Their daughter works for Double Diamond in Elgin as an agronomist. She has blessed them with a lovely grandaughter. Their son graduated from Civil Technology and works for Nutrien in Rocanville, SK.
Liana and her husband enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Shaylyn joined the Optometric Centre in June of 2014. She obtained her Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant designation in the summer of 2016.
She loves spending time with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoys playing baseball and camping in the summer, then hockey and curling in the winter. Shaylyn enjoys helping out on the farm near Dunrea with her husband Kevin, and caring for all the animals. She is also kept busy by her two young sons.
Jen started working at the Optometric Centre in October 2017 and soon after completed her Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant designation.
Jen and her husband, Scott, live in Ninette, MB with their busy young son. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and friends. Jen’s hobbies include camping and taking in local activities. She is always up to date on local hot spots, products, and services.
Velvet re-located from the city of Winnipeg to lovely Killarney in the summer of 2018. She and her partner, Blair, live on the lake and look forward to snowmobiling in the winters. Vel likes to spend time with family and friends and is presently re-learning the game of golf.
Karter moved to Killarney in 2015. She is currently a Certified Optometric Assistant and would like to pursue her Optician license in the future. She loves doing frame selections and picking fun frames.
In her free time, Karter loves to travel and play video games. Her favorite thing to do on vacation is visit the local aquarium.
- Head Receptionist
Shyniece relocated from Winnipeg to Killarney in April 2018. In her free time, she works on graphic design. She loves spending time with family and friends, including her fur-babies, Ella and Brody. She is looking forward to getting married to her partner in August 2024.
Shyniece is a talented and knowledgable receptionist. She has quickly become the insurance expert at Killarney Optometric Centre.
Kaitlynn grew up in Killarney. She started working at the Killarney Optometric Centre in August 2021. In her free time, Kaitlynn enjoys traveling, camping, boating, and spending time with her family and friends, including her three cats at home. Some of her hobbies include reading and going to the gym.
Kaitlynn is friendly and personable at her role as receptionist. She also works double duty by performing optometric pretesting and special testing.
